To commemorate their 70th anniversary, the high-end audio equipment manufacturer Nagra joined forces with audiophile label 2xHD to compile and release the Nagra 70th Anniversary Collection. 2xHD is now offering this collection of recordings in high-resolution download DXD and DSD formats. The album is exclusively available in DSD 512 at NativeDSD Music.
Mastered at 2xHD on Nagra equipment, the set is pure analog from analog master tapes. All original analog masters were played on a custom Nagra-T Tape Recorder with Tube Tape Stage electronics directly connected to a custom 2xHD A/D converter in DXD resolution. Some tracks used an EMT 240 Reverb Gold plate. The track featuring Marlene Ver Planck is a Mono Recording, the balance of the album is in Stereo.
It includes tracks from Bill Evans, Buddy Tate, Louis Armstrong, Monty Alexander and Shirley Horn and other amazing audiophile tracks that were transferred from Analog Tape to Stereo DXD and DSD with the legendary Nagra IV-S tape recorder. Stereo DSD 512 tracks were created by Tom Caulfield at NativeDSD Mastering Studios using the Signalyst HQ Player 4 Pro Mastering Software.

When true balance is achieved, sonic excellence needs no subsequent belated recognition. That was precisely my first and last reaction to the Nagra 70th Anniversary. The musical and sonic panacea is served up immediately and in full, with no need to foreground the contrast between sound and music.
Laflamme has hit exactly the right sweet spot. The Nagra 70th Year Anniversary Collection is not the usual analog ahoy. But a true balm for the soul with precipitating effects and tactile reality checks on all four sides of the Nagra album.
