Kings of Bassoon is the new album by the trio of Russian bassoonists Rodion Tolmachev, Ruslan Mamedov, Andrey Shamidanov on the ReachSound.Art label. The three bassoon players hail from the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra and the Russian National Orchestra. On the album, they present rare compositions from different national schools of the 20th Century.
The “Wizards and Composers of XX Century” Music highlighted on the album are British composers Sir Granville Bantock (1868-1946), Geoffrey Hartley (1906-1992) and the outstanding Danish composer Carl Nielsen (1865-1931).
This is a Stereo, Binaural and Multichannel DSD 256 recording from ReachSound.Art. It was recorded with the Horus Analog to Digital Converter from Merging Technologies and Schoeps and Sennheiser MK2h, MK21 and MKH800 microphones.
