The Farelive HD Label presents Cellomar, its third album in Stereo DSD, 5.1 Channel Surround Sound DSD and “Farelive Atmosphere” Spatial Stereo DSD. Cellomar features Ilaria Paolicelli on marimba and Luciano Tarantino on cello playing Damiano D’Ambrosio’s ten piece Suite.

Farelive Atmosphere is a recording technique in DXD and DSD developed exclusively by the Farelive HD music label where a unique microphone array recreates the acoustic space in immersive mode. The Spatial Stereo edition of this recording is created by Farelive using the Multitrack DXD recording after the fact by mixing it to Spatial in the studio.

Dinko Fabris says “Damiano D’Ambrosio continues to expand his already vast catalog of composer of our time with works for different formations, demonstrating both a tireless curiosity for combinations of instruments and a total consistency with respect to his personal, unique and unmistakable style. Cellomar. The title is obtained simply by combining in an acronym the two intended instruments of the piece: the cello and the marimba (the dedication is to the two respective reference performers, the virtuoso cellist from Bari, Luciano Tarantino, and the percussionist from Matera, Ilaria Paolicelli, a very talented young woman who turned 19 in 2021).

From a structural point of view, we are faced with a Suite, a denomination born in the Baroque age to indicate a series of dances with different trends, to be performed in the form of a concert in a given order. This tradition is strictly respected in the 10 pieces that make up the Suite for cello and marimba. These chamber scores by D’Ambrosio are therefore sound arabesques, built on sound alchemies and rhythmic pulsations, on popular or oriental scales that smell of an ancient Mediterranean, a tribute to his own land, to the harsh Murgian and rocky landscapes but also to the colors of the sea and the sky, but they are, above all, memory games conducted with a compositional skill worthy of a great composer of our time.”

The Farelive HD Label proudly presents its second album in the new “Farelive Atmosphere” series: “Mastery” by Alessandro Perpich on violin playing Eugène Ysaÿe Six Sonatas for Solo Violin Op. 27.

Farelive Atmosphere is a recording technique in DXD and DSD developed exclusively by the Farelive HD music label where a unique microphone array recreates the acoustic space in immersive mode. The Binaural edition of this recording is created by Farelive using the Multitrack DXD recording after the fact by mixing it to Binaural in the studio.

From the booklet:

“Shadows in the shadows, which followed my anxiety, my desires, my depressions, my shots, all my passion, from which perhaps they were born or were beginning to be born. They looked at me, they spied on me: they would have looked at me so much, that in the end, by force, I would have turned towards them. Who could I start with, if not with them, at a time like that? And I approached that corner and forced myself to discern them one by one, those shadows born of my passion, to start talking slowly with them. “
From “Colloquii with the characters” Luigi Pirandello

“The works of Ysaÿe, as for many other composers, were strongly influenced by his experience with the instrument and thanks to this relationship, he was able to expand in a revolutionary way the technical and expressive possibility of the violin. This aim is largely reflected in the collection of the 6 Sonatas for Solo Violin Op. 27, still considered today one of the most influential works of the violin repertoire like the Sei Solo a Violino senza Basso accompagnato by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) and the 24 Capricci by Niccolò Paganini (1782-1840). The Op.27 was drafted in the summer of 1923, after Ysaÿe attended a recital by the Hungarian violinist Joseph Szigeti (1892-1973) whom program included some of J. S. Bach’s Sei Solo. The purpose of this work was twofold: on one hand the desire to compose a cycle of six violin sonatas only in the manner of Bach; on the other side, the idea to associate each sonata with a different virtuoso with whom he felt a certain affinity, making the main elements of their styles become the soul and character of each piece. The dedicatees included names of extremely famous virtuosos: Joseph Szigeti (No.1), Jacques Thibaud (No.2), George Enescu (No.3), Fritz Kreisler (No.4), Mathieu Crickboom (No.5), Manuel Quiroga (No. 6). Not all the references within the sonatas, however, can be distinct immediately: some musical allusions, as already mentioned, indicate the origins and personalities of the dedicatees while others refer to their favorite repertoire (from baroque period to Bela Bartók) or to memories shared with dedicatees, giving the whole work a resemblance to Edward Elgar’s Enigma Variations.”

“He designed an expressive path of profound dramatic intensity, and at the same time of cheerful brightness, Perpich showed off an admirable maturity and interpretative grit, combining absolute instrumental mastery, sincere emotional adhesion and the virtuosity of the bow and sonority.” – La Repubblica

The Byzantine Choir of the Nikolo-Malitsky Monastery was created by the efforts of Abbot Boris (Tulupov), who gathered singers who studied Byzantine singing in Greece. Some of them have lived on Mount Athos for a long time and have absorbed the tradition of the Holy Mountain worship. The choir performs chants in Slavic and Ancient Greek.

The choir takes its name from one of the most revered images of the Most Holy Theotokos in the entire Orthodox world – “It is Worthy to Eat” (Greek. “Axion Estin”), which is located in the capital of Athos, in the ancient temple of Protat. In front of this icon, in the 10th century, the hymn “Worthy to Eat” was performed for the first time after the miraculous appearance of the Archangel Gabriel. Since then, this hymn has become part of the main hymns of Orthodox worship and is sung at every Liturgy around the world.

The mission of the choir is to carry the Athos tradition of Byzantine singing, thereby complementing the general charter of the Nikolo-Malitsky Monastery. Currently, the choir works in the monastery, and also participates in divine services.

Farelive HD proudly presents its first Record Production in the new “Farelive Atmosphere” series: Clarissima by Coro Nuvum Gaudium. The album is being distributed all over the world and from today also by the most exclusive Native DSD Music network platform.

Atmosphere is a new recording technique in DXD and DSD developed exclusively for the Farelive HD music label.  It can recreate the acoustic space in immersive mode. Clarissima will be followed by two more  Farelive HD productions between January and February 2022.

Binaural editions of a recording can be created in two ways; 1. by using a dummy head (such as those from Neumann and Sennheiser) at the recording session and recording the binaural configuration on the spot, 2. by using the Stereo recording after the fact by mixing it to Binaural in the studio. The Binaural edition of “Clarissima” was created in the studio using the Atmosphere techniques described above.

“O Clarissima” – The Marian theme is particularly dear to the Gregorian female choir “Novum Gaudium”, whose voices, now led by the skilled hands of the disciples of padre Anselmo, the Maestri Anna Gabriella Caldaralo and Rosalia Schettini, and renewed over the years by new lymph, alternate and combine in sound solutions and shades of color that are always different, to perform this supreme celebratory act in harmony.

The praise of Mary Mother of God takes place, therefore, by making the vocal cords of each member of the choral team resonate, an irreplaceable patrimony since it is linked to the uniqueness of every human being, but also interspersing with them some interventions of the tenor recorder and the symphonia, natural accompaniment and support instruments for the voice in the later stages of the evolutionary parable traced by medieval music: the sound mixture obtained allows the exploration of new horizons of originality, also aimed at facilitating the approach by a non-specialized public with regard to a musical tradition that is distant over the centuries and of non-immediate listening.

The repertoire, selected for the occasion, includes multiform pieces in terms of style, liturgical placement, and compositional technique, ranging from syllabic, semi-ornate and melismatic monody, up to the first results that arose in the pre-polyphonic context.

Novum Gaudium Ensemble
Anna Gabriella Caldaraio – Director & Voice

Angela Stefanis Lamanna – Voice
Angela De Grazia – Voice

This is music born in the forest, filled with the light of the sun coming through the leaves and freshness of a forest lake. It is free, like breath.

The “Like Breath” album is the result of the lockdown. In mid-March, like so many other people across the world, I had to give up moving around and stay at home.
At first it was not so bad, but three months on I realised that unless I went to the forest something really bad would happen to me.

So, I started going to the forest two or three times a week to spend ten or twelve hours at a time just walking, while days at home between trips seemed lost from life.
Half a year later the carillon in Peter and Paid fortress became accessible again. I had been missing this instrument a great deal and decided to try and play music
I’d heard in my head during my walks.

Thus was the album recorded on the very first day when, after several long months in the forest, I finally had access to the carillon.

Weightlessness: 100th Anniversary of Theremin

This music is about flying, floating free in space, contemplation of the infinite, of interstellar distances and particles invisible to the eye. It is about the mysterious luminescence of planets and scorching radiance of the stars, about the incredible distances our imagination can envisage and about the beauty of the universe.

Olesya Rostovskaya is a composer and one of the world’s leading thereminists.  Asya Sorshneva is a broad ranging musician in diverse genres and winner of a number of international contests and awards. These recordings include unrehearsed improvisations based on the sense of ensemble and their search for beauty.

The Tañido Español project focuses on musical selections representing various aspects of Spanish musical culture.

Isaac Albéniz most vividly represents Renacimiento, the New Spanish Renaissance, a time when the Spanish school of composers became aware of their national identity a trend which was further developed by Fernando Obradors.

Federico Garcia Lorca, most well-known as a poet, also worked in the field of music.  In particular, he collected and wrote down a number of folk songs, arranging piano accompaniments for them which he frequently played himself.

Tañido Español also includes Serenade, an original piece for carillon by Olesya Rostovskaya written in the old Spanish genre which over time has transformed from everyday music into a distinct artistic style.

The album ends with two extracts from Carmen by Georges Bizet, itself probably one of the most familiar musical evocations of Spain.
