Alpha Classics is one of the leading independent classical music labels in the world today. With repertoire ranging from the Renaissance to the 21st century, performed by emerging and established talents, Alpha is committed to artistic projects that are demanding, bold and often off the beaten track.
Alpha won two Grammy Awards in 2018, for recordings by soprano and conductor Barbara Hannigan and violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja. In 2020, Alpha was named ‘Label of the Year’ by the leading industry magazine, Gramophone. That same year, Alpha artists received a further three Gramophone awards. The much coveted ‘Label of the Year’ award has been given to Alpha three more times in recent years: by Radio Classique in 2020, the French magazine Classica in 2019 and at the International Classical Music Awards in 2018.
More than ever, Alpha is determined to push boundaries in a changing musical landscape, to dare to undertake ambitious projects and to build long-term relationships with artists.
Based in Paris, Alpha is masterminded by Didier Martin. It is the flagship label of the Franco-Belgian group Outhere Music founded in 2004 by Charles Adriaenssen of which Martin is CEO.
