Swansong is the third in a series of albums from the trio of Gábor Csordás, Marty Risemberg & Noriaki Hosoya. It follows the two earlier Pure DSD 256 Stereo albums Turbulence and Do Swans Fly? from the trio.
Swansong started out as a project of Gábor Csordás (piano), Noriaki Hosoya (bass), and Andrea Zuliani (drums). The majority of songs on this album were composed in Berlin, where the trio met in 2010.
Gábor Csordás says “The current lineup of the trio was introduced in 2016, when Marty Risemberg joined on drums for the recording sessions of this album. Our philosophy in music is to create improvised music that is accessible and emotional, based on both traditions of jazz and European music, without being narrowed down to any genre.”
